Cowboys and Aliens
It’s been a little while since my last post, but I was finally able to go out to the movies and was moved enough to write about this one (which could be good or bad). I saw Cowboys and Aliens this past weekend and was impressed, confused, and just sort of in awe all at the same time. This might have something to do with director John Favreau, who has directed different kinds of movies such as Elf and also Iron Man 1 and 2.
The film took place long ago in the days of the American Cowboy, of which included mainly Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig. Craig begins the movie by waking up in the middle of the desert with blood all over him and a metal bracelet that he doesn’t remember getting. Soon after this he goes to the nearest town after beating up a family of thieves and stealing their horses.
In the town he meets the rest of the cast including Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, and Harrison Ford’s son in the film Paul Dano. Soon after Craig arrives at the town all hell breaks loose as alien ships start to kidnap everyones “kin”. From there the film just gets more and more ridiculous and though it was entertaining it was just very strange and confusing.
The film ends of course with the cowboys triumphing over the aliens by being just absolutely amazing and doing things that make no physical sense. Though you can’t really argue with it because aliens and cowboys is just sort of unreal in the first place. Overall I think I would recommend this movie, though it is out of the ordinary it was a good time with laughs and scares all rolled together in one awesome action film.
